About Me
About Me
My name is Iason Boiangiu, and I’m a Romanian filmmaker living in Sheffield, UK. My style combines realism and artistry. I like to focus on the emotional weight of ordinary life, capturing real people and intimate moments with subtlety, atmosphere, and poetic intention. Observational and minimalist in my approach, I consider the most influential filmmakers in my life to be Wong Kar-Wai, Wim Wenders, Luca Guadagnino and Martin Scorsese.
I got my professional start on Radu Jude’s “I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians" (2018) as a third AD trainee. I have since worked on and run various film sets, ranging from professional productions to grassroots projects.
After getting my degree in Physics and Philosophy from the University of Sheffield, I’ve turned my full attention to directing. In the last three years, I have produced three of my own short films. My latest short, A ars bucătăria bunicilor, is currently being submitted to international festivals. I have at least two more productions planned for 2026.
